4. Instructions on how to handle the packaging
and return shipping
for Moose Mugs not broken/not defective, just click here.
|
3. Moose Mugs not broken/not defective but you want to return them
After contacting us and receiving your RA# from us AND after we receive your return intact, as
noted in our 'Return Policy',
we will gladly issue you (your choice of) a refund, a credit, or an exchange of
equal value from other products available on our website, for the total product purchase price
of the returned order.
The shipping cost of returning unwanted orders is the responsibility of the
customer.
Note: Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse you for the original shipping
charges. For those items marked as 'FREE SHIPPING', the shipping cost
portion of the total purchase price cannot be reimbursed.
Also, due to obvious hygienic reasons, there is no return on Moose Mugs that have been used.
To insure that your Moose Mugs come back intact, please wrap them carefully,
in the original packaging, to make sure they don't
bounce around in the box(es).
For full details and return address information, just read on.
Full refund
If you would like a refund (vs. replacement Moose Mugs) for your broken/damaged
Moose Mugs, just follow the instructions for sending us photographs of the
broken/damaged
Moose Mugs to us (as
just listed). We will be happy to refund your
money, in full. We again apologize for the inconvenience of receiving
broken or damaged Moose Mugs. We agree
that this is not a great way to receive something you have waited this long for
- we certainly did not intend these Moose Mugs to be delivered in this condition.
|
|
4. Return instructions
(for not broken/not defective Moose Mugs)
After contacting us and receiving your RA# from us:
We will forward you our USA return address, for the Moose Mugs
to be returned to (please do not ship them to our Canada address).
Please ship back the Moose Mugs as 'SURFACE'
(ground) service to minimize your costs.
Please
include your ORDER number (from
your invoice). This Order Number is usually in the form
"CMC2008/12/12/08DH", where 2008/12/12 is the date the order was
originally made, 08 is the number of orders we had received at that point in that day, and
DH
are the person's (who placed the order) initials. This Order Number
helps us find your order information quicker (your address, etc.).
Once we have received your not broken/not defective Moose Mugs from you, we will
process your refund
as soon as
soon as possible. As long as we receive
your Order Number, we have enough information to get your refund out to
you right away.
We apologize again and we thank you for your
patience and understanding.

2008/11/13 from moose mugs main page
If any other vendor tries to tell you their 'cheap copies' of the
Christmas Vacation Moose Mugs are an EXCLUSIVE trademarked product, they are
just blowing smoke. Their statement "reproductions of these moose mugs or any use of
the product name "Christmas Vacation Moose Mug" is in violation of the United States Government trademark laws and is strictly
prohibited" is a poor (and now failed) attempt to try to scare
you (the consumer) into buying their products. Their application for a US
Trademark has been denied and their statement (above) is probably now in contravention of United States
Patent and Trademark Office regulations (not to mention 'false advertising').

2002/10/25 Update: An idea we are toying with is detachable (and totally

Wednesday, December 14, 2005: We
will be receiving a few Moose Mugs (into Calgary, Alberta, Canada) on December
21. If you would like to place an order, for a destination in Canada,
there is still a chance of getting the mugs, to the Canadian destination, in
time for Christmas (or just shortly thereafter). Please get your Canadian
destination orders in very soon - only a few mugs are available.
Friday, December 2, 2005: As of 2:00pm
MST, any new
orders for the Moose Mugs
will probably not be produced in time for a December 25th, 2005 delivery.
We are trying as hard as we
can to fill existing orders
for a December 25th, 2005 delivery. Please keep checking the 'moose
mugs status' page
(www.CanadianMoose.com/moosemugsstatus)
for the status of your existing
order.
New orders are
still being taken NOW but these new
orders will probably be delivered AFTER December 25, 2005 only. New orders,
for delivery to those US states that are close to California (= shorter shipping
times), may still be delivered before December 25, 2005 but we do not make any
guarantees.
Existing
and new
orders will continue to be delivered, during the holidays, on every day that FedEx Ground
delivers: December 24, December 26 - 31, and on into 2006.
Please place your new
order soon as we will be closing our office for a few days over the Christmas
holidays!
Thanks and have a great
Christmas season!

1. Broken/shattered Eggnog Cups, click here.
3. Defective Eggnog Cups, click here.
4. Cracked Moose Mugs, click here.
1. Broken/shattered Eggnog Cups
For each Eggnog Cup you receive where the goblet is shattered, ALL
WE REALLY NEED RETURNED IS the SET of 2 antlers - we can recycle them back into use again.
Wearing gloves, just put the antlers into a bag
(of any sort, just to contain any spillage) and then carefully and securely place the bag in
a small box and send it back to us, using the Broken
Return Instructions.
Please be careful
when handling any broken glass!
As soon as
we receive the broken Eggnog Cups parts, we will forward replacement Eggnog Cups (or
your refund) to
you.
(under point 2)
(by us or by
you, if you would like to do so).
2a. Send back for repairs
If you would like US to repair them for you, just send both the
goblet and antlers back to us, packaged VERY securely, so further damage is not
sustained during transit. Please make sure the separated parts cannot
bounce around in the package and do not come in contact with the goblet. We will do
the repairs on the Eggnog Cups and get them back out to you. This process usually
takes about 4 weeks in total.
2b. Re-attach the Eggnog Cup parts
yourself
3. Defective Eggnog Cups
In the event that you receive a defective Eggnog Cup, we will happily replace
this (or provide a refund) for you. We would like the Eggnog Cup returned to us as we will
send it back to the glass blower for analysis and replacement. Please carefully
re-package the defective Eggnog Cup in the original packaging and send it back to us, using the Broken
Return Instructions.
For our glass blower to honor these returns, we need these to come back intact
(other than the defect) so please re-package them carefully.
As soon as
we receive the defective Eggnog Cup, we will forward a replacement Eggnog Cup (or
your refund) to
you.
4. Cracked Moose Mugs
Due to the nature of glass blowing, sometimes glass will develop
small, hairline cracks that may go unnoticed during inspection by the glass
blower.
A 'true' crack will be all the way through the mug. A 'work' mark
will be a 'ridge' or superficial crack only - these are the 'character' of the
Moose Mug, which show that these were 'hand made.'
In the event you receive a Moose Mug with a 'true' crack, we will happily replace
(or provide a refund for) these for
you, too. We would like the entire Moose Mug returned to us as we will
send them back to the glass blower for analysis and replacement. Please carefully
re-wrap the cracked Moose Mug(s) and securely place them into
a sufficiently-sized shipping box and send them back to us, using the Broken
Return Instructions.
For our glass blower to honor these returns, we need these to come back intact
(other than the cracks) so please wrap them carefully and make sure they don't
bounce around in the box.
As soon as
we receive the cracked Moose Mugs, we will forward replacement Moose Mugs (or
your refund) to
you.

2005/10/26 from 'moose mugs' page - as gift baskets now
available
How's this for an idea? You order 2 or more Moose Mugs
and you request a copy of the National Lampoon's 'Christmas Vacation' movie -
either on DVD or VHS. We throw all that
together in a nice gift basket with peanuts, popcorn, and other goodies and
treats and we send the whole package out to the loved one of your choice!
Instant party! Stay tuned for more details!
2002/10/25 Update: Due to the fragility of these Moose Mugs AND thus, the
oversized packaging that is required, the gift basket idea is not going to work
out. It would cost too much to have everything shipped out together
safely. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused!
2005/08/04 Update: With the strength of the new Moose Mugs, we are
working on this idea again. Keep checking back for more details!

2005/08/18 from 'moose mugs wholesale' page
(wording has been updated slightly)
Based on the production costs (for these high quality, hand-made, 'made in the USA' glass items), a 'true' retail price (with the traditional 'keystone' (100%) mark-up) would be out of reach for most consumers. Through previous sales of our Moose Mugs, CM.C has proven that a
MSRP of CDN$90.00
(for each Moose Mug)
is fair and generally well accepted. Consumers realize the value of hand-made glass items - just check the popularity of Savorski/Swarovski items!
Taking into account the MSRP, the production costs, and a little profit for ourselves, there is just not enough 'wiggle' room for us to sell the Moose Mugs, to retailers, at a 'true' wholesale level. We can offer retailers a 'deep' discount - deep enough to make it worthwhile to carry the Moose Mugs and definitely a better price than our retail customers can receive. A minimum profit of
CDN$20.00
per Moose Mug can be realized by retailers - still quite respectable.
*****
2005/07/21 from 'moose mugs' page
It looks like my Moose Mugs have 'cracks' in them - is this normal? - click here.
- - - - -
HAIRLINE CRACKS
The hairline 'cracks' you may see in the Moose Mugs 1 are normally just 'work' marks - where the
glassblowers have squeezed the molten glass into shape, using their tongs and plungers. Unless these marks are completely through the glass (from one side right through to the other side), the marks are not true
'cracks' and the Moose Mug 1 should be safe to use. If you receive Moose
Mugs 1 with true 'cracks', please contact us with 48 hours (click here
for details).

Here's where we are today...
CanadianMoose.com (CM.C) has been producing the Moose Mugs (in a few
different models) since June of 2001. In that time, we have had many
inquiries about selling the mugs to other retailers (wholesale), about selling
franchises, about many things. Until now, we have never been a position to
be able to handle any outside (wholesale) demand for the Moose Mugs - we had trouble just
filling orders we received from our own 'retail' customers. But now, due to
new glass vendors and better construction methods, we feel we can offer the
Moose Mugs to other retailers.
Hand-made quality...
As of June 2005, the Moose Mugs are being hand-made in the USA
(they were previously being hand-made in Canada but the shipping costs - to get
the mugs to our USA customers - were overly restrictive). With being 'made
in the USA,' the quality of our Moose Mugs is now unsurpassable. But
with this high quality also comes a high (but fair) production cost, for
hand-made glass items.
Suggested Retail Price...
To set a 'true' retail price for this product, with the traditional 'keystone'
(100%) mark-up, would
put it out of reach for most consumers. Through previous sales of our
Moose Mugs, CM.C has proven that a Suggested
Retail Price (SRP) of CDN$90.00
(for each Moose Mug) is high but certainly not out of line, as most consumers realize the value of
hand-made glass items (check the cost of Savorski/Swarovski items). But with our high production
costs (and a little profit for ourselves), there is just not enough 'wiggle' room for us to sell
the Moose Mugs
at a 'true' wholesale level. The best we can offer retailers is a
'deep' discount - deep enough to make it worthwhile to carry the Moose Mugs and
definitely a better price than any of our retail customers can receive.
Retail Restrictions...
Please note: retailers are free to sell the Moose Mugs at whatever
price they like (higher or lower than the SRP). The only restriction CM.C
has is that retailers will not be allowed to 'offer' the Moose Mugs on any
'auction-type' site (like eBay or any eBay 'store'). If this restriction is not adhered to,
by the retailer, CM.C will no longer sell the Moose Mugs to that retailer. CM.C will be
setting up an eBay store themselves, to attract worldwide attention to the Moose Mugs.
Wholesale Terms and Conditions...
We will be asking each retailer to sign and return a 'Wholesale Terms
and Conditions' page. Please click here to view the 'Wholesale Terms
and Conditions' page.
Wholesale Price...
Currently, our Wholesale Price (WP)
for each Moose Mug is CDN$62.00
(shipping is FOB, from San Diego, California). After
factoring in average shipping costs, to most destinations in the USA, there is about CDN$25.00
raw profit for retailers to realize, on the retail sale of each Moose Mug.
At just under 40%, we believe that this is still a respectable profit.
Very unique product...
Due to the distinct design of the Moose Mugs and thus, almost painful hand-made
production and shipping issues that are associated with them, these
Moose Mugs are being produced in small quantities only. The
Moose Mugs are very unique and will probably remain that way for quite some
time. By carrying these Moose Mugs in their locations, retailers will be
part of a select group, representing one of the truly 'different' products out
in the marketplace today.
Look at some sample Moose Mugs...
If you are interested in taking a look at the Moose Mugs, we are more
than happy to forward 2 (two) sample Moose Mugs to you, initially at no cost to you.
After viewing the sample Moose Mugs, if you:
1. would like to proceed with a wholesale order, we will just apply the 2
sample Moose Mugs to your first order.
2. are not interested in proceeding
with a wholesale order, you can just return the 2 sample Moose Mugs to us and we are
done.
3. are not interested in proceeding with a wholesale order, but
you would like to keep the 2 sample Moose Mugs, we will just process your credit card
for the 2 Moose Mugs (at full retail pricing).
Please let us know if you would like us to forward 2
sample Moose Mugs to you. Click here
to fill out an order and just mention 'wholesale Moose Mug samples' in the "Comments"
field on the order form.
Here's where we are heading...
In closing, we truly believe that you will not be disappointed with
our Moose Mug product. With growing tourist numbers and growing numbers of
movie buffs (as well as having that special movie becoming a modern 'classic'),
these Moose Mugs will remain popular for quite a while. We are not resting on
our "Moose Mug" laurels, though. We are looking into Bear Mugs,
Wolf Mugs, and even Beaver Mugs. With inspiration from our great outdoors, the
possibilities are virtually endless. We will keep you informed!
Thanks for your time today. Please do not hesitate to
contact us directly if you need more details on any of the previous
information. Have a great day!

The 'Eggnog Cups' now come in a custom-built, packaging solution (a larger box with custom-fit,
foam-rubber/styrofoam
inserts, to protect/immobilize the cups during transit). We believe this system will give added protection to the

glass: learning and mastering stained glass, sandblasting beveled glass, fusing,
and hand-blown glass. During his employment, John studied part time (as a
special status student) at the Alberta College of Art. During the summers,
John also studied hand-blown glass at the Red Deer College of Art. John
opened his glass company in 1986 and originally worked out of the basement of his
home. The business has since flourished and is now located in a
full-faceted studio, which includes a small supportive staff. There is
even room for the general public to observe the glass blowing demonstrations.
Evelyn has always had an interest in art. Her artistic
career began at a young age with dried and fresh floral arrangements, cake
decorating, sewing, and ceramics. Once she met John, she was fascinated
with the technique of stained glass. John began instructing her with the
basics of glass, which she learned quite quickly. Since her initial
lessons, she has developed her own style and creates original stained glass
products and unique sculptures.
Many of John and Evelyn's finished products can be seen
throughout various galleries and gift shops. John and Evelyn take
pride in their workmanship, creating individually fine quality art glassworks for
you to enjoy and treasure.

Eggnog Cups
*****
2005/03/08 from 'moose mugs' page
The cups in the movie looked to be made of glass but, by the
way they were carried around (even with a full glass of eggnog, they were held only by a finger and thumb),
they were probably only made of plastic. We're not sure!

2005/05/18 from 'danny vargas' vendor page
(see bottom of page for galleries)
Danny Vargas has been creating functional (mouth-blown glass)
art from molten glass for the past 40 years. At the tender age of 11,
Danny was trained by his father (a master glass blower) in the timeless
traditions of the Mexican glass artists. Originally from Mexico, where he was established in the world renowned artisan colony of
Tlaquepaque, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Danny was invited to Canada in 1976 for his artistic and technical
expertise. He was the first glass blower in British Columbia (BC), Canada,
and he soon found his place among contemporary Canadian artists. Where many have failed, Danny has been able to make a career out of shaping molten glass into vases and figurines.
All crafted by hand, these exquisite examples of the glass blowers craft reflect
the great traditions of the Italian, Mexican, and European glass blowers.
These treasures from Danny Vargas are among the finest examples of
Canadian Art Glass. Danny Vargas has added facets of the great European
styles to his unique designs and is creating contemporary Canadian works of
art. Danny's pieces are now being sold to a growing international clientele.

PACKAGING DETAILS FOR MOOSE MUGS
(EGGNOG CUPS)
For details on how the Moose Mugs (Eggnog Cups) are packaged, click here.
*****
2005/05/18 - from moose mugs 'packaging' page
(always hit 'Reload' or 'Refresh' to make
sure you get the latest update)
Please open all of your Moose Mugs as soon as you receive them. Damages must be reported within 48 hours
of receiving shipment.
After 48 hours, we will not provide replacements/refunds for Moose Mugs that are
damaged. Please retain all original packing materials and boxes
provided. They may be needed for inspection by the shipping company.
Moose Mugs
As the Moose Mugs are completely hand-blown,
they are able to withstand more shaking during transit. Because of this,
the Moose Mugs will continue to be wrapped in multiple layers of bubble wrap and
paper (some normal newspaper, possible some shredded paper), and come shipped in regular boxes. To unwrap the moose mug, just carefully
remove the layers of bubble wrap and paper. Keep going, the moose is in there
somewhere!
Eggnog Cups
Please
read the following for detailed instructions on how to remove the cups SAFELY from the
box. The instructions shown
below are also included with each order of eggnog cups going out. If you
need additional copies of the instructions, just print the appropriate
instructions on this page.
Note: for Version 4 (below), if you have trouble 'lifting' the
contents out of the box (as talked about in Step 4), you may have to try the
following: Carefully cut open 2 edges (of 1 side) of the box, fold the cardboard
down and out of the way, and then lift the contents out through that opening.
CanadianMoose.com 'Eggnog Cups'
(Version 4)
Note: The eggnog cup may be secured VERY tightly into the sponge
packaging (black or grey/gray or pink or white) inside the box. Please DO NOT try to remove the eggnog
cup, from the box, by pulling on the eggnog cup itself - the antlers, nose, and
eggnog cup itself ARE NOT designed to withstand this type of pressure.
To unpack your eggnog cup safely, please perform the following steps:
1. Open the box by carefully cutting the tape.
2. Secure the box (to the floor) with your feet (place one foot on each
LONG side of the box).
3. Slide a hand down each LONG side of the box (between the box and the
sponge packaging itself).
4. Press the sponge packaging GENTLY together (with both hands at the
same time) and SLOWLY lift the entire contents out of the box.
6. Carefully lay the contents of the box onto a flat surface. Lay the
contents onto either LARGE side - do not stand the contents on their edges.
Slide your hands out from either side of the sponge packaging. Depending on
which side (of the sponge packaging) is against the flat surface, you will
have to remove 1 or 2 pieces of the sponge packaging before you get to the
eggnog cup itself. Carefully, remove the eggnog cup from the sponge
packaging.
That's it - your eggnog cup is now ready for use! Please retain your
packaging materials for storing/protecting your eggnog cup during the 'off
season' or for any shipping/transporting purposes.
Thanks and have fun using these!!

(Version 3)
Note: The foot of the enclosed eggnog cup may be secured VERY
tightly into the 'base' (white) of this packaging. Please DO NOT
hold the eggnog cup by the antlers or nose when removing the
eggnog cup from the 'foot support' (black or white) - the antlers, nose, and eggnog
cup itself ARE NOT designed to withstand this type of pressure.
To unpack your eggnog cup safely, please perform the following steps:
1. Open the box by carefully cutting the tape.
2. Remove the packaging 'lid' (white), remove the 'pillar'
(white) (runs down the inside of the eggnog cup), and remove the top pieces
(x 2) of the 'antler supports' (black). Note: some of these
packaging pieces may come out at the same time the 'lid' is removed.
3. Remove the rectangular 'nose support' (white) (prevents the
eggnog cup from rotating in the box) - just gently push the packaging 'nose
support' away from the nose of the eggnog cup and then carefully pull
the packaging 'nose support' up and out of the box.
4. Remove the 'side wall supports' (x 2) (white).
5. Carefully gripping the eggnog cup by the bottom of the goblet
(use a '2 fingers to each side of the eggnog cup stem' grip - like a
Mr. Spock from Star Trek 'Live Long and Prosper' sign), SLOWLY lift
the eggnog cup from the box. The bottom pieces (x 2) of the 'antler
supports' (black), and the 'foot support' may come out at the
same time the eggnog cup is removed.
6. Once these parts have been removed from the box, while still carefully
gripping the eggnog cup by the bottom of the goblet, carefully remove
the bottom pieces of the 'antler supports' (1 from each antler) and
the 'foot support' (if any of these parts remain attached to the
eggnog cup).
That's it - your eggnog cup is now ready for use! Please retain your

Enough with the administrivia,
Here's the story!
We've had many inquiries from customers who have been searching for the
moose eggnog mugs (cups, glasses, steins, bowls, whatever!) like those that were
featured in the movie "National Lampoon's Christmas
Vacation" (1989), by Warner Bros. The glass cups
were in the shape of a moose head - they had antlers on either side (for
handles) and had a moose snout/facial features.
Note: We will not be posting pictures from the movie here
due to obvious legalities. Our moose cups/mugs (we have also been
developing a line of other Canadian animal cups: bear, wolf, beaver, etc. - stay
tuned for more info!!) will be similar to, but not exactly the same as, the cups
in the movie (we will not be infringing on any copyright). There are not
any specifications of what these cups were like so we are producing moose
products which we believe will be what our customers are looking for. To
refresh your memory, watch the movie again (buy it on DVD
or VHS)
and have a laugh! You will be supporting Warner Bros. at the same time!
In the movie, Clark
Griswold (Chevy Chase) and his cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid) drank eggnog from these
cups (at Clark's house, during the Christmas holidays).
The cups were a probably a throw-back (a 'string' is another
word for linking movies together) to the original movie
"National Lampoon's Vacation" (1983). The Griswold family
visited the theme
park "Walley World" and were probably meant to have acquired
the cups there. The moose connection was probably to "Marty
Moose", the "Walley World" mascot.
Through Warner Bros., we have determined that these cups were
"props" only (fashioned specifically for the movie). Alas, they were
never produced for consumer use.
BUT...
Due to a demand for moose cups, by tourists and movie buffs as
well, we have designed our own
glass vessels and
they are ready to go!!
You are probably asking "What do your cups cost . . .?"
Please read on! . . .
Cost Solution 1: To get these cups down to a nice cheap
price would be a simple
process: pay a large glass manufacturer US$100,000 for a mold and then buy 200,000
cups from the same manufacturer over the next 2 years. No problem!
Big problem! Based on the feedback from our wonderful customers, the
demand for these cups number in the hundreds, not hundreds of thousands!
That demand does not justify implementing Cost Solution 1.
No biggie,
let's continue! . . .
Cost Solution 2: Find smaller glass producers who can
hand-produce the cups, with the same or higher quality than the large
manufacturers, but in smaller numbers. The costs remain fairly high but at
least we can get the cups produced.
We have done that! Check out what we have! . . .

Dimensions
(all dimensions are approximate)
Width (from antler tip to antler tip): 7-1/2"
Height: 7"
Front to Back (includes snout): 5-1/4"
Wt: just under 1 lb
The glass is an 11-1/2 oz snifter-style glass, with a
diameter (at widest point) of 3-1/2", with a diameter (of glass opening - mouth) of 2-3/8",
with a height of 5-1/8" and a glass thickness of approximately 3/16".
Using a standard, market available snifter glass as a base (which
helps reduce costs), the eggnog cups are manufactured totally by hand!. The snout and
antlers are cast (from a bronze mold) with hand-blown glass, utilizing the finest cullet (raw
material) - glasma, which gives a brilliant clarity to each piece (as close to
crystal as you can get!). Each snout and antler set are matching sets. As each eggnog cup is put together by hand, there could be a
slight variation with the placement of the antlers and snout. This method
of construction (using an existing snifter glass and the applying the antlers and
snout) was how the eggnog cups, used in the movie, were put together. This method allows us
to achieve a level of uniformity that our customers desire, when buying products
in sets.

Dimensions
(all dimensions are approximate and will vary slightly from mug
to mug)
Width (from antler tip to antler tip): 8"
Height:
5"
Front to Back (includes snout): 4-1/2"
Wt: just over 1 lb
(this is a serious piece of glass!)
The glass is close to a 9-10 oz snifter-style glass, with a
diameter (at widest point) of
3", with a diameter (of glass opening - mouth) of 2-1/4", with a
height of 4" and a glass thickness of approximately 1/8".
This is the Cadillac of hand-formed glassware:
completely custom designed/stylized, completely hand-blown mugs
(even the snifter glass is hand-made)!
Each mug is started with a blob of molten glass and is carefully formed
into a snifter glass. The antlers are added - one drop at a time.
The snout is formed, then attached, and then the nostrils and mouth are
formed. The eyes are finally added, bringing the mug to life.
Each moose mug will be
similar to each other but, due to the nature of hand-blowing glass (time,
temperature, and technique), each mug is guaranteed to be unique.
The size and style (the look) of the antlers and the snout will differ slightly from
mug to mug. Even if you
order a set of 12, each will be slightly different in some way.
These are destined to become family heirlooms as you are obtaining highly-detailed pieces of
hand-blown glass - almost
too nice to use for eggnog! You might have to get one for each of the
kids. It could save on lots of arguments in the future!
Each mug is signed by the artist. Click here to

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 'EGGNOG CUPS' AND 'MOOSE MUGS'?
The question most asked about our cups/mugs is 'which is the
one from the movie?' We went to 2 different glassblowers with the same
request: build us a 'moose head' glass. What we got back (from the
glassblowers) were their versions of the same request - we named the 2 models 'eggnog
cups' and 'moose mugs' different just to be able
to distinguish one from the other. Basically, both of these are both
brandy-snifter style glasses, with moose features added on.
The 'eggnog cups' (option 1) use an existing
snifter-style glass - the 'moose mugs' (option 2) have
the glass (goblet and foot) hand-blown from blobs of molten glass.
The 'eggnog cups' (option 1) have antlers and snout
made from pouring molten glass into (pre-formed) bronze molds. The pieces
are then cooled and then attached to the glass. The 'moose
mugs' (option 2) have the antlers and snout hand-blown and attached at the
time the glass itself is created.
Which one is bigger? Size-wise, both models should be fairly
similar. The 'eggnog cups' (option 1) have a
'rack' (set of antlers) which stick up higher than the antlers on the 'moose
mugs' (option 2).
Which one should I get? It is really a matter of visual choice. The 'eggnog
cups' (option 1) have a more 'real' moose look to them. The 'moose
mugs' (option 2) have more of a cartoon or caricature look to them.
Whichever model you choose, please have fun using them!

ORDER EARLY!
As these cups/mugs have become fairly popular, it is safest to get your
order in very early, especially for the Thanksgiving/Christmas season. We
will make all efforts to fill your order as soon as we can but sometimes we
experience a backlog on orders. Like anything of quality, we believe the
cups/mugs are well worth waiting for and we appreciate your patience!
Please submit your orders via our on-line order form
or by our fax
form.
You can keep posted on the STATUS of your order
by checking our 'Eggnog cups' / 'Moose Mugs' Status page. Just click here
(you will need to remember the date you placed your order).
These cups/mugs are VERY, VERY popular around
Thanksgiving and Christmas so please get your
orders in VERY, VERY early!
Delivery
delays are not in our control
(crossing borders, Customs inspections, mail scares, seasonal rushes,
etc.).
We CANNOT 'guarantee' ANY delivery
date. Sorry!
To make shipping easier, we ask that you NOT order any other products, from
our site, to be included with your eggnog cup / moose mug order. That way,
we can use standard boxing and will not have to 'custom' fit each order into
different size boxes.
Also, if you wish to purchase BOTH the eggnog cups AND the moose mugs, please
submit 2 separate orders.
- - - - -
Please open all of your
cups/mugs as soon as you receive them. Damages must be reported within 48 hours
of receiving shipment.
After 48 hours, we will not provide replacements/refunds for cups/mugs that are
damaged. Please retain all original packing materials and boxes
provided. They may be needed for inspection by the shipping company.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Have fun using these! The "eggnog cups" and
"moose mugs" CAN be used for drinking from - that is what they
were designed for.
Note: Extreme temperatures may damage these items - we DO NOT recommend
serving HOT beverages in these NOR DO WE recommend storing these vessels in the
freezer.
To hold the cup/mug, we recommend you 'cradle' it, under the body of the
cup/mug, just above the foot. That way, excessive pressure is not exerted
on either antler. We do not recommend holding these cups/mugs by the
antlers when they are filled with eggnog (or your favorite beverage) - the
antlers were not designed to withstand that sort of weight. The weight of
the cup/mug and the contents will be almost more than most people can hold with
one hand, never mind with a finger and a thumb. If attempted to be held by
the antlers, the cup/mug could either slip or, if an antler became separated
from the body, the cup/mug and contents would meet with a messy end and nobody
would enjoy that.
- - - - -
WASHING/STORING INSTRUCTIONS
Customers have inquired about washing these "eggnog cups"
and "moose mugs" in the DISHWASHER. As with any fine piece of
glassware, we recommend hand-washing and
hand-drying ONLY (drip-drying or air-drying works, also). This
will insure that these items will be around, to be enjoyed, for years to
come. Just use regular liquid dish soap and warm water for cleaning.
Note: DO NOT use AMMONIA-based cleaning products (like glass cleaning
"WINDEX") on your "eggnog
cups" - the ammonia may degrade the epoxy used to adhere the antlers and
snout to the goblet.
During the 'off season', just store these cups/mugs safely in your china
cabinet/cupboard or in the boxes you received them in. Remember to keep
them separated from other items and from each other (so they don't
fight!). Simply use cardboard, cloth, foam, bubble wrap, whatever..., to
keep them apart!
- - - - -
HAIRLINE CRACKS
The hairline 'cracks' you see (usually in the antlers on the 'moose
mugs' and in both the antlers and snout of the 'eggnog cups') are normally just
'work' marks - where the glassblowers have squeezed the molten glass into shape,
using their tongs and plungers. Unless these marks are completely through the
glass (from one side right through to the other side), the marks are not true
'cracks' and the mug/cup should be safe to use. If you receive mugs/cups
with true 'cracks', please contact us with 48 hours (click here
for details).

SEND US PICTURES!!
We've heard lots of good stories on how long our customers have been
looking for these cups/mugs. When your friends, families, and loved ones
open these gifts up, snap some photos and send them to us! Having a
'Christmas Vacation' party? Don't forget your white shoes!!
During your party, snap a couple of goofy pictures and send them to us! We
will put together an 'eggnog cups' / 'moose mugs' photo page so everyone can see
how these cups/mugs have been enjoyed. Just send us the pictures (click here
for our address) and we will get them up on the site. Unless you request
otherwise, we won't return the photos so please just send us copies. For
your privacy, we won't publish any names or other details that accompany the
photos.

FUTURE - MATCHING PUNCHBOWL
We do not have a matching punchbowl at the moment but we are looking
into getting one together!
2004/09/22, 2003/11/29 Update: No punchbowl yet - sorry!
2002/10/25 Update: An idea we are toying with is detachable (and totally
reusable) antlers/snout that could be used with any bowl - from the antique
crystal one (from your Grandmother) to the plastic one you picked up at
Wal-Mart, just for the party!
Stay tuned!
- - - - -
FUTURE - PLASTIC VERSIONS OF THE EGGNOG CUPS / MOOSE MUGS
2004/09/22: At present, we do not have plastic
versions of the eggnog cups or moose mugs. We will be looking into that
possibility soon as many customers have voiced a desire for a less expensive
option. Keep checking back here for further updates!
- - - - -
FUTURE - GIFT BASKETS
How's this for an idea? You order 2 or more
'eggnog cups' or moose mugs and you request a copy of the National Lampoon's
Christmas Vacation movie - either on DVD or VHS. We throw all that
together in a nice gift basket with peanuts, popcorn, and other goodies and
treats and we send the whole package out to the loved one of your choice!
Instant party!
Stay tuned for more details!
2002/10/25 Update: Due to the fragility of these cups/mugs AND thus, the
oversized packaging that is required, the gift basket idea is not going to work
out. It would cost too much to have everything shipped out together
safely. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused!
- - - - -
UNDER DEVELOPMENT - OTHER 'ANIMAL' GLASSES
Because our customers like the
'moose' glass idea so much, we are developing a line of other animals as well:
bear, beaver, wolf, etc. Great for tourists visiting Canada and the USA!
Again, stay tuned!!
- - - - -
FUTURE - CUSTOMER SUGGESTIONS
Just a few of the things our customers have suggested we look into:
Note: for any of the following links, please let them know
that CanadianMoose.com sent you!
- matching punchbowls (see above for details)
- plastic versions of the eggnog cups and moose mugs and
punchbowls (see
above for details)
Cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid) stuff:
- black dickies
(fake turtlenecks)
- white, skin-tight V-neck
sweaters
- hats
- white shoes
- Advent calendar that they open each
day on the movie - click here!
- the Swedish carousel that Eddie breaks while
drinking the eggnog
- "Jelly of the Month" club
- a wreath with a door knocker included
- a Tasmanian devil cup like Clark had at the office
- a wrapped box like the ones given to Mr. Shirley
- matching 'moose' straws and 'moose' swizzle sticks
- a "real" (fake) squirrel
- Santa Claus (12", plastic or rubber, was on the table,
while Clark and Eddie were drinking eggnog)
- the bunny slippers
that Ruby-Sue wore when she came in and asked Clark if he were Santa Claus when
Clark was in a dream daze fantasizing about the beautiful woman swimming in his
pool
Keep those suggestions coming (contact
us) - we'll see what we can come up with! If anyone has come
across any good web sites which offer any of these items (or others items
related to the movie), please contact
us. We will post these sites for everyone to see.
- - - - -
WEB / NET LINKS
As we come across connections and links to "eggnog cups"
and "moose mugs" on the net, we will post them here. If you come
across any we have not yet posted here, please contact
us. Thanks!

The
glue we use here is LEPAGE ACCU-FLO SUPER GLUE, in the Automatic 'pen'
form. This glue 'pen' has accurate one drop push button control and
non-clog tip for easy re-use. It sells here for about CD$3.50 for a 2ml size. There should be a USA equivalent of this LEPAGE
product. If you can't find an equivalent product, let us know and we will
send you a tube of this glue.
This SUPER GLUE is an alpha cyanoacrylate adhesive (pretty much the same as
'Crazy Glue') that sets in seconds - giving tremendous adhesive strength.
It is colorless and sets without clamping. Is resistant to water, most
chemicals, and freezing temperatures. Maximum strength develops in 3 to 12
hours.
BE VERY CAREFUL AS THIS GLUE BONDS INSTANTLY! AVOID SKIN CONTACT!
