Our (short) story: Kootenay Spoons started as a family run business in 1983. Since then, they have grown slowly to include a few neighbors. They are dedicated to producing high quality wooden tools. Their products are not only guaranteed forever, they really work!
These wooden products are hand-crafted from sustained-yield, kiln-dried Birch. The hand-rubbed, food-grade Walnut salad oil finish will not sour.
Care: All our kitchenware is made from Birch and hand-rubbed with Walnut salad oil.
Birch is a great wood for kitchenware because it is a long-fibered wood that retains moisture....these will not crack or split in a hot pan, or if left in the sink a few days.
All items can be cleaned with warm soapy water and, if oiling is needed, use
Olive, Walnut, or mineral oil. We recommend no dishwashers - the utensil won't break but will come out rough and fuzzy.
If this happens, sand lightly and re-oil.
Everything is guaranteed forever for any reason - quality wooden kitchenware will last a lifetime.
